The church's pU1pose 1s to get us out of sm through preaching. In 1 Corinthians 1:21 Paul said:
...itpleased God by the foolishness ofpreaching to save them that believe.
We have to remember, he said "the foolishness of preaching", not "the preaching of foolishness"!
Proper preaching is always about Jesus. He is the only one who is not infected with sin and therefore the only one who can deliver us from it. People are not getting saved llli.e they used to
because we have not returned to having real revival where the narne of Jesus is preached and called on not just from the pulpit, but even out the door. It's disgraceful when an apostolic preacher can come into a city and preach for a number of days. \v'hen he is finished, everybody says that they had a "high" time in the Lord. Before he leaves, they put such a large offering in his pocket that he walks out of the church lopsided. But once he is gone and the high wears off,
you realize, when you think about it, you heard nothing about Calvary, nothing about the blood of Jesus and nothing about the name of Jesus even though that's what our message is all about. The cross is the heart of the gospel, the blood is the life of the gospel and the name of Jesus is the power of the gospel.
