Hamsters are inquisitive, gentle in nature and very energetic. This particular Siberian

hamster that is observed was inactive in the first 5 seconds of the observation, but began to move
actively around its cage. Its circling, bar-mouthing, and cage-top twirling are considered to be a

stereotypic movement since the same movement sequence was repeated and maintained for at

least 10 seconds.
