HIGH STANDARDS
In recent news, you would have seen articles exposing and shaming pharmacies
as ‘Britain’s worst performing pharmacies’ after failing to meet standards following
inspections from the GPhC, with some online newspapers even detailing an interactive
map showing where these pharmacies can be located. This can be an alarming wake
up call, damaging the reputation of longstanding pharmacies and overwhelming for
those who are new pharmacy business owners.
As your dedicated membership organisation, we are aware of what has been
happening in the media and want to support our current and new members with
ensuring that you meet the standards required, and therefore feel that now is the right
time to bring our new Numark Regulatory Health Check to market.
We are hoping that our new service will help to eliminate the stress and worry of any
upcoming audit, especially considering you now no longer get six weeks to prepare
before an inspection as most GPhC inspections are unannounced, as well as incurring
additional costs if you fail to meet the standards.
As of 2019, inspection reports made by the GPhC are now published by the press/
local media groups, so it’s more important than ever to ensure your pharmacy is up to
grade. There is also a shift to ‘name and shame’ pharmacies which are not meeting the
standards (including this interactive map and full address information as mentioned
previously).
