Make Your Home Shine!
You’ve heard the saying, “You only get one chance to make a first impression”. This couldn’t be more true when it comes to potential buyers looking at your home. From the moment a potential buyer approaches the front door, whether they know it or not, they are developing their feelings of the property. Does the landscaping look nice and well maintained? Does the exterior of the house look cared for or neglected? Once inside, what’s the first thing they see entering the door? Is it a cluttered entryway with shoes and jackets? Or is it bright, fresh, clean, and unencumbered by personal artifacts? The point is, you want to make your house as inviting and comfortable as possible. And you want a potential buyer to be able to see themselves living there. Things like personal items and pictures of the family on the wall are too personalized to one family and just serve as a reminder to the potential buyer that “I’m in someone else’s house”. In a perfect world, any home you sell would be completely vacated of all your personal belongings, and professionally staged to look like a model home. Practically speaking however, this isn’t always doable, so here’s a list of helpful tips and checklist to make your house shine, even when professional staging isn’t feasible.
Make Your Home More Appealing
Bright and Airy
Have as much natural light as possible in your rooms when showing to make them feel more inviting.
Renew Entryway
Considering renewing your welcome mat and adding a fresh coat of paint to the front door.
Fresh & Pleasant Aromas
Burn scented candles or use fresheners like febreeze and always keep the house clean.
Flowers Make Everything Better
Plan flowers to add color to the landscaping and use flowers or indoor plants to add life to the interior.
Pressure Wash Exterior
Clean up oil stains and other discoloration from things like moss to make it look clean and new.
Check Exterior Lighting
Ensure lights adjacent to the garage and porch lights are functional. This is particularly important if you are having professional photos done of your home that include twilight shots.
