Every culture has a collection of wise sayings that offer advice about how to live your life.
These are called “Proverbs”
1) “The pen is mightier than the sword” (Trying to convince people with ideas and words is
more effective than trying to force people to do what you want)
2) “When in Rome, do as the Romans” (Act in a way as the people around you are acting)
3) “Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst” (Bad things might happen, so be
prepared)
4) “Birds of a feather, flock together” (People like to spend time with others who they feel
are similar to them)
5) “A picture is worth a thousand words” (Picture conveys emotions and messages better
than written or spoken explanations)
6) “God helps those who helps themselves” (Don’t just wait for good things to happen to
you. Work hard to achieve your goals)
7) “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” (Be Clean – God likes that)
8) “Actions speaks louder than words” (Just saying doesn’t mean much but actually doing it
is more meaningful)
9) “Beggars cant be choosers” (If you are asking for a favor from someone, you have to take
whatever they give you)
10) “Practice makes man perfect” (You have to practice a skill to become good at it)
11) “Too many cooks spoil the broth” (When there are too many people trying to lead and
give opinions, it is confusing and leads to bad results)
12) “Necessity is the mother of invention” (When you’re really in need, you think of creative
solutions to your problem)
