Kitchenless dwellings in an ideal socialist and
feminist society. Women would be free from
the drudgery of unpaid domestic work. Each
kitchenless house would be connected to a
central kitchen through a complex network of
underground tunnels. Gas, water, electric, and
telephone lines would be underground as well.
The society would consist of a circular city
of ten thousand people inscribed within one
square mile of land.
Central kitchens would would provide hot
meals in special containers and would arrive
from central kitchens to be eaten on dining
patios. Each central kitchen would serve 1,000
people. Railway cars from the center of the city
would bring cooked food, laundry, and other
deliveries to connection points, from which
small electric cars could be dispatched to the
basement of each house.
Schools and daycares would exist at the center
of this society. A kitchenless society would
permit the development of extensive public
facilities.
