Didn’t they fill our bellies

face in books not telis

didn’t they wrap our bodies

with love, looks, and language sweeter

than jam and jelly
didn’t they feed our souls enough

My ancestors I cannot disappointment

for when I was young I made a special

specific point

to rise

Rise high enough to bring others with me

teaching one another together I told ‘em
swiftly come with me

our joy being the warm wrapping of sun

bathed bliss

like temporary insanity as consistent days

of abundance we kiss
