What's your personal tourist insider tip?
It may come as a surprise – the airport's observation deck, with more than 300,000 visitors a year, is one of the most important sights in Switzerland. I find it exciting to observe the aircraft at close range.
Are there limits to growth? How many construction areas are still available?
As you can see on our homepage, www.flughafenregion.ch,
there are still substantial properties available. The chal- lenge, however, is that what is on offer does not always exactly match the requirements of the potential buyer. Of course, price is an important factor. There are also op- portunities to condense existing areas, as planned on the Balsberg in Kloten as part of a three-story extension with an additional 21,000 square meters of floor space. The belts of skyscrapers, which are being planned along important traffic routes, also play an important role in in- creasing density. In the next 10 years, the number of in- habitants and jobs in our region will increase by more than 20 percent.
The vibrancy of the airport region can be seen in
the growth of the organization of the same name!
We started with 49 members at the end of 2011 and have since grown more than 30 percent each year. In the mean- time, we have developed into a central network and knowl- edge platform for personalities from business and politics. Externally, we represent about 200,000 jobs! That means, above all: economic and political actors identify with this re- gion. They are enthusiastic and want to achieve more. Our network provides them with a basis for personal exchange across different industries, which would not otherwise take place so intensively.
The combination of a business network with many events and the promotion of the location is striking
in general.
Networking is a crucial factor for the success of established companies as well as for settlements. The close exchange between business and politics promotes mutual under- standing, which facilitates projects and improves the envi- ronment for business. Short routes open doors and make portfolio maintenance easier for local communities. Through our events, we exhibit both sides: further educating oneself and talking about location-relevant topics.
