BACKGROUND
I’m Lee Norman, owner of LN Property and LN Joinery. I embarked on my journey into property and joinery as a 16-year-old apprentice joiner in 2001. Working for a family-run construction company, I dedicated three years to securing my apprenticeship.
While most of my peers pursued sixth-form and university without a clear career path, I focused on my construction career. While my friends were out partying and having fun, I dedicated evenings and weekends to assignments and presentations, ultimately earning my HNC in construction.
In 2007 I purchased my first house, they were peak house prices at the time but my wage for a 22 year was good enough for a mortgage to work as I was back working all the hours I could.
Then came the 2008 recession. The company I was working for hit difficult times and made more than half the entire work force redundant, myself being one of the younger ones was seen as the cost effective choice. Instead of getting upset, I saw this as an opportunity to kick start the next charter of my career.
The next day I accepted a job from a local construction company. The next 2 years I made the move from a site joiner to working supervisor to becoming a site manager running half a million pound projects with further personal certification being achieved via on-site NVQ accreditation’s.
