The Mines campus is a cohesive composition that is appropriate to the local
consistent use of a set of materials and colors lends a pleasing uniformity to
roofs. As styles changed to a more international style with flat roofs through
the mid-century, the use of buff brick helped to lend a consistent materiality
AESTHETICS context, climate, and scale of the surrounding neighborhoods. ARCHITECTURE AND MATERIALITY The campus’ older buildings are a pleasing mix of sandstone with red tile to the campus. The newest buildings on campus continue the architectural style changes using a greater percentage of glazing while continuing to use the buff sandstone with red-brown accents in more modern ways. This the architecture though many different styles are used.
