A job’s a job

I do some daft things for money
but I was broke.
I’d just moved into the city
and my mate, David’s dad – Mr Cohen –
was looking for someone
to run a message for him.

So – in for an assarion, in for a denarius –
I went over to see him.

It’s only a little job Daniel, he said.
Bit of waiting around,
nothing too arduous –
but you’ll have to agree to do it
before I can give you the details.
It’s all a bit hush hush, you see.

So I agreed,
and he told me all about it.
It was on for tomorrow.
All I had to do was to hang around in the city centre
until a bloke spotted me
and nodded in my direction …
