Yoga for Schools – Adhiyogi’s Service to the Children of Pune
In August 2012, Adhiyogi brought his vision of Yoga for Studies to the schools of the Pune Municipal Corporation. His program went far beyond the typical image of yoga; it was a holistic offering designed to shape not only the body but also the mind and character of young students. The curriculum blended physical yoga exercises, meditation, stress relief, behavioral modification, psychological counseling, and—perhaps most uniquely—effective study techniques.
The results were striking. The Education Department took note as students under Adhiyogi’s guidance showed remarkable improvement in both academic performance and personal behavior. Principals and teachers observed increased focus, discipline, and a visible rise in happiness among the children. One principal, from Vasant Dada Patil Madhyamik Vidyaniketan, openly expressed deep respect for Adhiyogi’s work.
The benefits reached far beyond test scores. Adhiyogi’s training nurtured the personality development of students, instilling in them a sense of discipline, purpose, and self-awareness that would serve them for life.
What made this contribution even more extraordinary was that Adhiyogi undertook this project entirely voluntarily. Without accepting any financial return, he devoted his time and energy to the city’s financially disadvantaged children, ensuring they received the same access to authentic yoga wisdom that others might only find in private institutions. His dedication was recognized with heartfelt appreciation from the Education Officer, who noted that this service was not only invaluable to Pune but could serve as a model for other educational institutions across India and beyond.
The “Yoga for Studies” program became a living testament to Adhiyogi’s mission: to share yoga in its most authentic, transformative form, touching lives in ways that go far deeper than the classroom. For the children of Pune, it was more than a program—it was a gift that would stay with them for a lifetime.
OM Shantiḥ.
