Mary Lopez’s Journey into the Heart of Chanting
While wandering through the peaceful streets of Gokulam, Mysore, Mary Lopez’s eyes fell upon a simple poster inviting students to attend Yoga Sutras classes. She didn’t know the teacher, but something in her heart told her to follow this path. That intuitive nudge would prove to be one of the most rewarding decisions of her yoga journey.
From the very first session, Mary recognized that Adhiyogi was not only deeply knowledgeable but also genuinely dedicated to each student’s progress. His teaching style was adaptable, sensitive to everyone’s learning pace, and infused with clarity and patience.
Under his guidance, Mary discovered a whole new dimension of chanting — understanding the Yoga Sutras not as isolated verses, but as a vast, interconnected poem flowing with meaning and resonance. She learned not just to chant but to feel the sutras in her heart, each syllable connecting her to the ancient wisdom they carried.
Adding to the richness of her experience was the companionship of two fellow students of Adhiyogi. Together, they shared the joy of learning, mutual encouragement, and the quiet satisfaction of steady progress.
For Mary, this was more than just a class — it was an immersion into devotion, discipline, and discovery. With deep gratitude, she reflects on the experience:
“Om Namah Shivaya — thank you for everything, Adhiyogi.”
OM Shantiḥ.
