Adhiyogi at Studio 11 – A Headstand of Heart and Wisdom
In the fall of 2005, Adhiyogi traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to conduct a special workshop at the respected Studio 11, led by Tiiu Gennert and Kate Murch. Known for his clarity and systematic approach, Adhiyogi delivered a deeply insightful session focusing on Sirsasana (Headstand) — not merely as a physical feat, but as a symbol of yogic mastery and mindful progression.
Among the attendees was Paula Hackley, who had been contemplating headstand as a future fitness goal. Her feedback after the workshop reflected the impact of the session:
“I especially liked how he explained to practice headstand and progress to it. Believe it or not, I was considering exploring that as a goal... I just wanted to let you know that I thought the session was very valuable.”
Paula, like many others, left the workshop with a renewed sense of direction and empowerment, even though she had to leave early due to prior commitments.
Tiiu and Kate, directors of Studio 11, later shared their reflections with great enthusiasm:
“We've had a lot of positive feedback about your workshop, and the students now have a new sense of enthusiasm regarding their headstands... We’re planning an inversion clinic for the new year to build on your workshop. We appreciate you taking the time to share your expertise and your spirit.”
This event marked the beginning of a transformation in the Cleveland yoga community, where Adhiyogi’s depth of teaching transcended the physical and rooted itself in the minds and hearts of practitioners. It was not just about balance on the head — it was about realignment of perspective and trust in steady progress.
OM Shantiḥ.
