From a Two-Hour Lesson to a Lifelong Calling: Vladimir’s Journey from Russia to Thailand
In the summer of 2015, during the very first International Yoga Day in St. Petersburg, Russia, a young man named Vladimir attended a special workshop taught by Adhiyogi, an invited speaker and yoga master from India. Already curious about yoga but unsure how to begin, Vladimir opted for a private two-hour session with Adhiyogi — one that would radically alter the course of his life.
At the end of their meeting, he asked, “What should I do when you leave St. Petersburg?” Adhiyogi’s reply was simple yet powerful:
"Do exactly what I taught you every day for three months, without fail — and then write to me."
Three Months Later: A Life Transformed
Vladimir kept his promise, practicing daily without a single miss. Three months later, he wrote to Adhiyogi with heartfelt gratitude, describing the remarkable changes he had experienced:
• His body had transformed — he was slimmer, stronger, and far more flexible than before.
• His stamina grew, his posture improved, and he could now move in ways he once thought
impossible.
• But the most profound changes were within: his mind had become calm, focused, and
clear.
Decision-making no longer overwhelmed him, conflicts dissolved naturally, and his communication skills improved, leading to greater professional success. Most meaningfully, his relationship with his partner deepened, becoming rooted in love, trust, and mutual respect. "Thank you, Adhiyogi, for opening the door to this wonderful world of Yoga," he wrote.
Stepping Deeper into the Path
Inspired by this transformation, Vladimir joined Adhiyogi’s 200-hour Teacher Training in the vibrant, noisy, and smoky city of Pune, India. Far from being a distraction, the city’s energy fueled his commitment.
From day one, his understanding of yoga expanded. He delved deeper into its history and philosophy, learning not only the what but the why behind each practice. Daily, he discovered more about the inner workings of physical asanas, breathing techniques, and meditation, all reinforced by intense, focused practice.
