Carolina Italiana’s Journey with Adhiyogi
Carolina Italiana’s path to becoming a confident and well-rounded yoga teacher was shaped profoundly by her time with Adhiyogi. She first completed the Authentic Yoga Teacher Training program in 2006, an experience she describes as great and one she highly recommends.
The small class size allowed for plenty of individual attention, giving her the chance to focus on her personal areas of interest while strengthening the weaker and less experienced aspects of her teaching. By the time she finished the training, she felt confident enough to begin teaching on her own—though, like most new teachers, she admits there was still a natural touch of self- consciousness in the beginning.
Adhiyogi didn’t just provide her with training—he also gave her opportunities to step into the role of a teacher immediately. He invited her to substitute teach classes at a local gym, a real- world experience that proved invaluable. Those first classes paved the way for further opportunities, as another yoga teacher soon invited her to sub for their classes as well. Carolina found it reassuring to know that even though the Authentic Yoga System wasn’t tied to Yoga Alliance, it still opened doors for her to work as a professional yoga teacher.
Over time, Carolina’s connection with Adhiyogi deepened beyond the physical practice. She immersed herself in his rich knowledge of Chanting, Yoga Philosophy, and living a true yogic lifestyle. She notes that there are very few teachers in the U.S. with the breadth and depth of understanding that Adhiyogi possesses, and she cherishes the insights she has gained from him.
Equally meaningful to Carolina has been the personal bond she has developed with both Adhiyogi and his wife. Their kindness, generosity, and authenticity have made her feel like a genuine part of their Yoga family.
Reflecting on her journey—from a trainee honing her skills, to a teacher stepping into the classroom, to a student of deeper yogic wisdom—Carolina is deeply grateful. Her experience with Adhiyogi has been more than just professional training; it has been an initiation into a lifelong relationship with Yoga in its fullest sense.
OM Shantiḥ.
