Melanie Savia, Virginia, USA
In April 2012, Melanie Savia, a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in the U.S.A., proudly completed her teacher training course with Adhiyogi— an experience she would recommend to any serious yoga student.
Her journey into the Authentic Yoga System® began in a unique way: across continents, via Skype. From her home in Virginia, Melanie connected with Adhiyogi’s Yoga School in Pune, India. This flexibility in schedule and depth of knowledge made it possible for her to balance her university studies with serious yoga training.
She quickly began applying Neel’s Yoga philosophy, not only in her yoga practice but also in her daily life. As the weeks passed, the range of yoga subjects expanded, and her curiosity deepened. That curiosity soon led her to make a bold decision — to travel to India over her winter holidays for a three-week immersion in the birthplace of yoga.
In India, Melanie was enveloped in the profound cultural heritage, hidden in intricately carved temples and preserved in the flowing lines of Sanskrit script. Adhiyogi introduced her to sincere yoga students from all over the world, and her days were filled with opportunities to teach and to learn. The mornings and evenings were saturated with classes, discussions, and cultural exploration.
For Melanie, this was an irreplaceable experience — one that words could scarcely capture. She left India with a deeper understanding of yoga’s roots, grateful for the authenticity of the system and confident in continuing her path as a teacher shaped by this genuine lineage.
OM Shantiḥ.
