Adhiyogi's Impact at Merritt Academy
In the vibrant classrooms of Merritt Academy Elementary School in Fairfax, Virginia, a unique chapter unfolded in Adhiyogi’s teaching journey. Invited to lead a Yoga program for young students during the Spring Semester, Adhiyogi brought his deeply rooted tradition and modern teaching methods into the hearts and minds of elementary school children.
The response was nothing short of joyous.
After the conclusion of the semester, Linda Potts, the Special Programs Coordinator, personally spoke with several students who had taken part in Adhiyogi's classes. The feedback was glowing. The children, full of youthful enthusiasm, expressed that they felt they were learning something special, something they had never experienced before. Adhiyogi’s calm presence and gentle encouragement made a lasting impression. In their own words, they thought their Yoga teacher was “very cool.”
This appreciation wasn’t limited to the students. Parents, too, took note of Adhiyogi’s unique style and presence. Some had the opportunity to observe the sessions firsthand. One such parent, Mrs. Al-Qatou, mother of Sarah, expressed being particularly impressed by what she saw. Even Linda Potts’ own husband, after witnessing Adhiyogi in action, praised the impact and grace of his teaching.
Adhiyogi’s approach—emphasizing mindfulness, body awareness, calmness, and respect— created an environment where children felt empowered, grounded, and joyful. His work at Merritt Academy stands as a testament to the universal reach of Yoga and the ease with which even young minds can resonate with its depth when taught with authenticity and care.
