If you observe the Chapter 6 of Bhagavadgita, it has a concept and practice very similar to the Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali. There, Krishna advises īśvarapraṇidhāna in the concluding verses as shown in the following:
शचु ौ देशे प्रततष्ठाप्य स्स्थरमासनमात्ममनः।
न ा त्म य स्ु र ि त ं न ा त त न ी च ं च ै ल ा स् ि न कु श ो त्त र म ॥् ६ - १ १ ॥
Bhagavadgita 6.11: At a clean place, make a firm seat using grass, skin of a deer and cloth in that order, which is neither too high nor too low.
तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्मवा यतचचत्तेस्रियक्रियः। उपववश्यासने यञ्जु ्याद्योगमात्ममववशद्ु धये॥६-१२॥
Bhagavadgita 6.12: Sitting on that seat, he should concentrate his mind, control the actions of the mind and the senses, and practice Yoga for the purification of the mind and intellect.
