seems they aren't usually loud enough to cause permanent health issues.” There is also the fact that scientists are just as confused as us on the origin of the condition. “Scientists have no firm idea of how common these sounds are or how much damage if any, they're doing to society.” Therefore we are just going to have to live with it.
The annoying sound which is usually portrayed as a
high pitch sound is actually different for everyone. The source states that there is no external source for the sound and that it is all in our heads. “Tinnitus is sound in the head with no external source.” The text later on states that sounds are not all high pitched sounds, in fact, different people hear different things.
“For many, it's a ringing sound, while for others, it's whistling, buzzing, chirping, hissing, humming, roaring, or even shrieking.” In addition, the sound can have different effects on the people who hear it. “The sound may seem
to come from one ear or both, from inside the head, or from a distance. It may be constant or intermittent, steady or pulsating.” Though scientists have discovered that much they still have yet to determine the origin.
Many
things are
currently
believed as
the cause of
the sounds.
This article
provides us
with a few
examples of what is believed to be the cause. “Even some medications can trigger it. It's also strongly linked to hearing loss and loud noise exposure.” The article also supports the fact that the annoying sound can be other things than the commonly believed ringing sound. Such as “hearing cicadas, wind, crickets, fluorescent lights, squeals, running engines, grinding steel or dripping tap water. Some people even say it sounds like motors in their ears.” There is no cure for hearing the sounds and sometimes you can hear the sounds in only one ear. It's most common in adults with hearing loss to hear the sounds within their heads.
