 INTRODUCTION
Setting up a learning environment for young children learning is not an easy task. Various factors need to be taken into consideration such as furnishing, room arrangement and space, storage and display, as well as the play provisions and equipment. At the end of the day, a learning centre for young children should make every child feel welcome and should be inviting, triggering various experiences and promoting interaction among the children. A good learning environment is not only vibrant and flexible but is also responsive to a childÊs changing needs based on the childÊs interests and abilities. Every section, equipment and furniture must be well thought out by the educators during planning so as to ensure that the learning centre will be conducive for learning and interesting enough that children would want to come back the next day. In the following sections, factors of furnishing, room arrangement and space, storage and display and play provisions and equipment are discussed.
