• Lawn and replace grass or mow a lawn when needed;
• Surfaces and clean surfaces of hazards and debris;
• Sand areas if there is any harmful debris or animal faeces; and
• Paths and walkways are clear of tree roots, stumps or rocks unless these are used to provide a balance activity.
(b) Equipment
For equipment, check for:
• Sharp edges, missing items, exposed bolts, crushing points or sharp parts;
• Wear, rot, cracks, splinters, broken or about to break;
• Moving parts for wear; and
• Entrapment or enlargement hazards.
(c) Landscape and Playground For landscape:
• Check for drainage and clean out drains or untended grass, plants or any materials that are unsafe for infants and toddlers; and
• Inspect areas for trash, sharp points, branches or harmful pests.
(d) Loose Parts
For loose parts and items:
• Check for any loose parts or broken toys or equipment that may lead to injury and hazards; and
• Make sure the materials are non-toxic and non-choking.
