teachers can place books about aeroplanes, picture cards on helicopters. Materials and equipment should be non-biased and non-discriminatory. For example, select books that portray children with disabilities or older adults in positive ways. Dolls and toys should also be appropriate for use in terms of skin and hair colour.
4.3.2 Involving Children in Planning

When designing the learning space for the young children, it is commendable to speak and ask the children what their views are. „Where would you like to play?‰ or „What would you like to play with today?‰ are simple yet important questions to ask the children. Their sense of involvement in making the decision will create an interest among the children, and they develop to become thinkers and problem solvers.
Using cameras in the class to record activities is also a positive way to get children involved in learning. The photographed activities, which can be shown to the children later in the class will make them think, reflect, recall and respond to their experiences. They can choose their favourite indoor or outdoor space for later activities. The photos can be compiled into an album and the students will be able to view them anytime. They will see their environment and what they value in their daily activities.

1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using the countryside as playground for preschoolers.
2. Describe how indoor and outdoor play environments can be complementary .
