She made her first complete work at
the age of five. It was a childish draw-
ing, but instead of being put away as
keepsake, like so many others, it found
its way to industrial production.
Daughter of Nikos Zouboulis and Titsa
Grekou -two designers with a long track
record in Greek design and owners of
Studio Metaplasi, a furniture and interior
design store which has been making its pre-
sence felt since the '80s- Sophia Zoubouli
did not have to look far for "what to do when
she grew up". Today she declares herself
happy to have followed this line which is "at once
hobby and profession". She loves nature, the inspi-
rations from which she turns into unique pieces,
almost artworks whose feeling and sure, well-studied
lines make a striking impression. Her first works
such as the bookcase whose curved lines follow the
flow of water or the flower-like lighting fixture were
warmly received and she was encouraged to con-
tinue with more creations. Wood, metal and clay
are the materials she uses most often.
