ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Severna Park and Arnold
Severna Park, locally called “The Park,” is an Anne Arundel County community. It is a flourishing area
for businesses, its territory speckled with a myriad of restaurants, retail shops and small businesses that define the landscape. The town is flanked by the Severn and Magothy Rivers, making nautical lifestyle inherent to the area. Placed ideally along the I-97 corridor, commuters from Baltimore and Washington, D.C. make their home here to take advantage of the water access and calm respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Arnold is just south of Severna Park, serving as a thru-way to Annapolis on Ritchie Highway for those who do not have the privilege of knowing the town’s cozy neighborhoods and beautiful waterways. Also an Anne Arundel community, Arnold is home to dozens of local eateries and businesses. Located on the Broadneck Peninsula, it meets the Magothy and Severn Rivers along its borders. Smaller than Severna
Park, Arnold is a tight-knit community where getting around is quick and easy. Arnold also has direct access to Annapolis and the Bay Bridge, making the town perfect for boaters and beach-goers.
Most Severna Park and Arnold residents would not consider their communities to be mutually exclusive.
The perceived borders of Severna Park often include neighboring parts of Millersville, Pasadena and Arnold, while certain areas of Arnold spill over into Annapolis territory. The fluidity of the geography leads to a common culture with numerous shared spaces such as shopping centers, churches, and community organizations frequented by Severna Park and Arnold residents alike.
In 2014, the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce solidified the unity of the two towns and is now called the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce.
