Jennifer Renee Mayfield was born to Hubert Brooks and
Carolyn Mayfield, in New York City on February 23, 1981.
As a one-year-old, she was baptized in the presence of her
family at the Lemuel Haynes Congregational Church
(United Church of Christ) by her maternal grandfather, the
late Reverend Marvin E. Mayfield, Sr.
For a short time, she lived in Brooklyn with her mother and
extended family. The family would soon move to Queens;
she received her education through the New York City
public school system. Jennifer attended August Martin
High School in Jamaica, NY. She was a dedicated member
of her community as an essential worker throughout the
pandemic.
“Jenny,” as her family and friends called her was a lovable
and outgoing person, she was full of life and loved
socializing with her friends and traveling with her family; O
she knew how to make her friends and family happy.
Although she was fun-loving and had a lovable personality, B
she also knew how to be assertive (nobody messed with
Jenny). She was close to her brother, Jeffrey; she taught I
him “big sister things” like, how to scrub his nails and iron
his clothes and many other life skills. She was known to T
love Twizzlers and greatly enjoyed lottery scratch-off U
tickets.
On Monday May 23, 2021, Jennifer Renee Mayfield went A
home to be with her heavenly family. She was preceded in
death by her grandfather, The Reverend Marvin E. Mayfield, R
Sr., and her aunt, Naomi Mayfield.
Our beloved Jennifer leaves to cherish her memories, her Y
Son, Christopher Adam McKissick; Brother, Jeffrey K. Smith;
Her Smile Mother, Carolyn Mayfield; Father, Hubert Brooks;
Grandmothers, Louise F. Mayfield and Mary A. Hill; a
Cousin who grew up with her who is like a brother,
Though her smile is gone forever and her hand I cannot touch Kaseem L. Mayfield; Uncles, Marvin E. Mayfield, Jr.;
I still have so many memories of the one I loved so much. Lawrence E. Mayfield, and John F. Mayfield; Beloved
Friend, Talil Maddox; Aunts, Edith R. Mayfield, Chyann P.
Her memory is now my keepsake, which with I’ll never part. Mayfield, Aisha Glass, Paulette Brown-Mayfield, and
God has her in her keeping I have her in my heart. Eugenia Mayfield; Great Aunts, Joan Meade, Edna Jackson,
Sadly missed, but never forgotten. Alice M. Copeland, and Robin Jackson; Nephews,
Xavier K. Paul-Smith, Isaiah Paul-Smith, Nicholas Mayfield,
