When to Use Epitaphs

Epitaphs have limited usage, as they are specifically messages commemorating
the dead. Although typically epitaphs refer to inscriptions on funeral plaques,
tombs, or tombstones, they may also refer to commemorative poems or sayings
               in general for the deceased.
