Service Based Applications

The application is usually broken down into tiers, often a user

facing tier (WEB Servers), a business logic tier (Application

servers) and a database tier (DB Servers). Each server that

runs a service is deployed independently within an standalone

compute environment, bare metal, VM or container. Each

service must be able to communicate with the servers that

perform companion services in the same application. This can

present problems with deployment and security in a legacy

data centre.
