Challenges for the CIO

Good business and IT strategy starts with a current-state assessment
and then identifies both incremental and transformational business
opportunities. Those opportunities will increasingly require new hybrid
business-IT skills in innovation and design that focus on three strategic
areas:

• Redesigning critical business processes to optimize delivery of products and services

• Optimizing information delivery to deliver personalized information to decision makers,
whether they are inside or outside the enterprise

• Optimizing the enterprise's business model by harmonizing siloed business functions
and creating new competencies and capabilities
