Topology Modeler – Service Types

       Service Types

       ▪ Virtual Machine with CloudCenter Agent
             ▪ 90% of the OOB Services are this type
             ▪ A VM is launched with a service tied to it
             ▪ The service is installed by running scripts downloaded by the CloudCenter Agent after the VM is launched
       ▪ Virtual Machine without CloudCenter Agent
             ▪ Used when you are unable or do not wish to install the CloudCenter Agent.
             ▪ Example Virtual Appliances with a proprietary OS.
             ▪ You can not configure the VM via Agent Lifecycle Actions as there is no agent, but you can configure external lifecycle
actions to configure the service once the VM is launched
       ▪ External Services – no virtual machine launched
             ▪ Used to update an existing service or server external to CloudCenter
             ▪ Examples: PaaS Service such as RDS, Oracle RAC that you want to add an instance to, DNS, CMDB or physical load
                balancer.
