                                           Theme 1 : Lesson 1

                                   Explorer in Action (Peg Keiner)


        Peg keiner is from Chicago in the United States.

            -  She is a National geographic explorer.
            •  A global goals ambassador for the United Nations.

            •  A director of innovation at a school, she educates students on the impact of different
               types of litter on the environment.
                   •  At the start of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 she noticed there was a lot of litter
                       from  COVID  (PPE  =  personal  protective  equipment)  such  as  facemasks  and
                       disposable gloves.


                 Apps and social media websites she used to spread awareness on the impact of litter

                                                  •  An app she downloaded for free on her phone. Using
                     1.  Debris tracker               GPS on her phone she recorded the location of litter.

                                                  •  She teaches her students to use Debris tracker


                      2.  Twitter and
                                                  •  she used the hashtag #trackingppe
                                                  -  To encourage followers in 60 countries to collect PPE
                                                      data.

                  •  All  the  data  collected  by  Ms.Keiner  are  in  the  form  of  GPS  map  locations  and

                     infographics.

            •  Social responsibility means each citizen has a role in protecting the environment and
               natural resources.
               ➢  Example : like what Peg keiner did when she saw litter in the street.

               ➢  Which is the basis of ‘’ go green ‘’ initiative that encourage a responsible attitude
