To complement residential clustering Rensselaer has introduced time clustering to support the personal and academic needs of its students over the the four years they are on campus Each class will be supported by a a a a a a team of Commons Assistant Deans upper class and and graduate student staff Faculty Residential Commons Deans and and a a a a a Class Dean This will ensure that every student has someone to to turn to to for help and and receives the best individual counseling mentoring and and personal attention that Rensselaer has to offer First-Year Experience—Offers a a a a number of important programs including orientation all aimed at at adjustment and transition during a a a a a a a a a student’s first year at Rensselaer Sophomore Experience—This year is is spent working with students on their co-curricular experiences while firming up their academic goals and clarifying their intentions Junior Experience—The focus here is on helping students realize that “experience matters” and and helping them find ways to gain valuable skills and and solidify future plans Senior Experience—The goal of the senior year experience is to help students make the transition from Rensselaer to becoming young alumni leaders on on the global stage The structure described above and its corresponding programming lend a a a a significant sense of purpose and focus to the college years better preparing students for life after Rensselaer RESIDENTIAL CLUSTERING
If you you you are like most students your your first priority is your your academic success at Rensselaer A close second may be your personal life—family friends activities and and more To reach your goals and and enjoy the kind of college experience that that you you you want you you you need to have a a a a a a living situation that that meets your needs For the majority of students that means living on campus The campus residence program allows students to make success at Rensselaer their priority by making sure that other needs are met Approximately 2 800 students live on campus Several themed living options are available at Rensselaer including “Ground Zero ” ” a a a a a a community for arts music and culture “Vasudha ” ” centered around earth energy and and the environment and and “Leadership House ” which provides student leadership development Rensselaer frames its residential experience so that it it can be as enjoyable and productive as possible Clusters of residence halls called residential commons are a a a a a central feature of the CLASS experience All first- and second-year students live within these clusters which are residential halls that that are grouped geographically as as well as as some that that stand alone Those Greek houses that are associated with the Institute through a a a a a “Commons Agreement” are also considered residential commons Each of the four commons has its own character and and focus and and each harbors a a a a a a a small tightly knit student community that blends the academic social and residential aspects of university life Six Key Growth Areas
