PREPARING
FOR EMPLOYMENT
Getting ready for
job interviews
If your son / daughter has been called to attend an interview for a job or an
apprenticeship, make sure that they are fully prepared for that interview.
If it is a face-to face interview, then make sure that they arrive at the venue early.
They may need to ask themselves the following:
> How are they going to get there?
> What bus or train will they need to catch?
> Where will they park?
Make sure they dress professionally. Make sure they know they need to shake the
interviewer’s hand and keep eye contact.
If it is a virtual interview make sure that they can use the required platform detailed
by the employer, make sure that the interviewers can see them on the screen (if
they have a window behind them and the sun is shining they may only be able
to see a bright light), and they should always login early in case there are any
technical difficulties which they may need to fix.
