Dear Friends,
It is often that when we face our biggest
challenges, we discover new and better ways
to move forward into a brighter future. When
the world was forced to confront the realities
of a pandemic, the education community
stood tall and shifted into emergency remote
learning, creating virtual classrooms, and developing online live
and recorded teaching and learning lessons. As the months have
mounted, hybrid models have become the norm in many districts,
and all educators have strengthened their remote learning
practices.
At FEA, we too have been bolstering our online professional
learning offerings, utilizing several platforms for recorded,
live, and interactive sessions. Since March, we have held
more than 70 webinars that have been attended by more
than 35,000 participants. We have also hosted dozens of
roundtable discussions, NJPSA committee meetings, one-day
workshops, in-districts, a wide array of LEGAL ONE offerings,
the New Jersey Leadership Academy, the one-day Virtual Fall
Conference, NJEXCEL and NJTLC classes, and NJ Leaders to
Leaders mentoring meetings, all using Zoom and other similar
platforms.
To ensure the health and safety of all of our participants, all
FEA programs will be held online at least through June 2021.
We will expand, improve and perfect these sessions so that we
can continue to offer online options and hybrid models when we
return to in-person professional learning.
NEW ONLINE LEARNING SUITE: In addition to our current
LEGAL ONE online course offerings, we are extremely excited

addressing the most critical and relevant best practices, which
will be available on the Canvas platform in late January. You can
find more on these online courses, which include topics such
as social-emotional learning, culturally responsive practices,
special education, formative assessment, teaching and learning
in a virtual environment, equity, anti-bullying, school climate and
culture, and the Connected Action Roadmap, on page 46. The
FEA Online Suite provides an excellent opportunity for school
and district teams to learn, work, and grow together. You may find
online learning more conducive to teams, as you will not need to
find coverage for simultaneous absences in your buildings.
LEGAL ONE: LEGAL ONE continues to expand and elevate
its offerings to include not only live and pre-recorded online
sessions and webinars on the legal topics that you need every
year, but also new series, certificate programs, and packages
of complementary courses that, taken together, can lead to in-
depth applicable knowledge of the most comprehensive legal
issues. Throughout the COVID-19 period, the LEGAL ONE team
hosted numerous webinars to provide you with the very latest on
guidance given by the Department of Education. Finally, look for
the launch of the new LEGAL ONE podcast this February. For
