Dizziness (fall risk), loss of consciousness; confusion; fatigue; ataxia; nystagmus; GI upset; dry
mouth, throat; vertigo; tremor; twitching; nervousness; dysarthria; myalgia; back pain; hypoaesthesia;
amnesia; depression; increase suicidality risk; abnormal thinking, coordination, gait; weight gain;
peripheral oedema; amblyopia; diplopia; pharyngitis; rhinitis; abrasion; decrease WBC; vasodilatation;
impotence; pancreatitis; hypersensitivity incl systemic reaction, DRESS; leucopenia; hepatitis (rare);
fever, hostility, hyperkinesia, viral infection (children)
Monitor for gabapentin abuse, emergence/worsening of depression, suicidality, unusual mood,
behaviour change, hypersensitivity; abrupt withdrawal; absence seizure (incl mixed seizure disorder);
renal impairment; haemodialysis; encephalopathy; multiple concurrent antiepileptics (> 2), medical
conditions; drug abuse history; elderly ≥ 65 yrs; pregnancy (admin folic acid 5 mg 4 wks before to 12
wks after conception); lactation (disc); children < 3 yrs (epilepsy), < 18 yrs (neuropathic pain).

Interactions:.
Cimetidine; antacids (within 2 hrs); opioids incl morphine;
