Dipping into Wye Valley territory in south Herefordshire the Cottage of Content at Carey brings postcard appeal to accompany
its delicious culinary dishes, while open to non-residents too, Harry’s restaurant at The Chase Hotel in Ross-on-Wye is a stalwart on the dining scene in its elegant Regency surroundings.
Head East to the Ledbury area and the Trumpet Inn’s distinctive black and white façade signposts a tasty menu and a Wadworths welcome. Potter a little south to Woolhope and the Great British Pub’s Best Cider Bar, The Crown Inn, is where landlord Matt’s love for the beverage is only matched by his passion for delicious fine food.
South West Herefordshire cossets The Kilpeck Inn, named after its village. Relax by the fire
in sheepskin lined chairs, then dine on an ever-changing seasonal menu.
Something light and local
Look out for the unexpected artisan destinations in the sticks for a different nibble. You’ll love The Nest, towards Ledbury, for its amazing speciality range of Handmade Scotch Eggs, light breakfasts, brunches, lunches and teas
and look out for their pop-up foodie tapas nights.
The home, garden and salvage emporium of Holloways at Suckley has a café that is famed for its excellent catering, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a full-English better than at The Potting Shed at independently owned Radway Bridge Garden Centre just outside Hereford. If you’ve been for a tour and tasting at Weston’s Cider, kick back in their Scrumpy House restaurant on site to extend your experience.
