The food scene across Herefordshire and The Marches is unintentionally covert, but we’ve lifted the lid to delicious dining destinations just for you...
   New on the Scene
Pensons restaurant swept Herefordshire’s foodie scene with aplomb when launching in January 2019. On the Worcestershire border at the Netherwood estate, Great British
Menu contender Lee Westcott offers a sophisticated venue and menu fresh from the estate grounds and local area.
On another historic estate, the Golden Valley’s Bridge Inn at Kentchurch celebrated a complete renovation and new ownership with talented couple William and Kasia Chambers in February. Expect casual dining with worldwide influences and a speciality in cocktails
at this rustic riverside destination.
Back on the foodie map is Longworth Hall in Lugwardine. Traditionally known for functions, its new owners now welcome pre-booked lunch and evening diners and open their delightful Blue Room for afternoon teas.
Not strictly new, but with a new kitchen team, is The Harp at Old Radnor, adding to this hilltop destination’s established dining excellence and Marches menu.
Hereford City
Leading the City indie food scene is gourmet burger, beer and cocktail ‘Meat Boutique’ The Beefy Boys. Need we say more?
In contrast, the intimate and personal dining at Aylestone Court is hugely popular for celebratory meals and afternoon teas.
Moments from Hereford Cathedral,
the Regency villa façade of Castle House Hotel offers casual dining in the Ballingham Bar & Bistro or the decadent silver service of a fine dining restaurant, overlooking the waters of the old Castle Pool.
Gourmet Country Pubs
In Herefordshire’s northern Mortimer Country the multi-award-winning Riverside Inn at Aymestrey benefits from its pretty waterside position in the summer and cosy winter fires. Across on the Black & White Trail in Kingsland
The Angel Inn serves modern pub food with great themed nights during the week.
