CAMPAIGN Summer 2021
 Archives Appeal
The BNTVA Collections & Archives is the history and legacy part of the British Nuclear Test Veterans Association which is being run by our resident curator Wesley Perriman BA (hons) MA.
He is a highly qualified professional who originally came on the BNTVA board to advise on how the charity can protect the legacy of the veterans for the future. As part of this he has introduced new policies and procedures to bring our collections and archives into line with international museum standards. The implementation of the Collection Development policy has been highly commended by the ICO, and the new object entry procedures ensures that anything gifted/loaned to the BNTVA is tracked throughout.
By doing this it will stop items being easily lost or retained without authorisation. The other reason for these procedures is to protect the BNTVA by insuring we have the licence to publicly share the fantastic items in our collections and archives both online and via our exhibition programs. We also are professionally digitising the BNTVA Collections using a large reprographic copy stand, and a book scanner which were both purchased with a grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, these pieces of equipment are of museum quality and allow us to safely reproduce even very fragile items to a high standard.
We are in the process of building a substantial virtual museum website unlike a standard web space this is a complex multi-faceted database which will allow people to search the collections and bring up associated items. This site is going to feed into our education programmes which commence next year.
We are interested in seeing veterans’ collections; we do accept gifts to the BNTVA, as well as organising loans of items for exhibitions, and, of course,
