2 Garwnant Visitor Centre

Open every day from 9am-5pm.
Garwnant Visitor Centre is situated in Coed Taf Fawr, a large area of forestry. It has a
café and play area. Close to the Centre are several forest walks and an easy access
trail running alongside a stream, with platforms over a pond. The majority of this
popular, family orientated site is on a slope. Play areas surfaced with bark chip are
provided for younger and older children. There are several kilometres of barrier-free
walks, mainly surfaced with compacted stone.
How to get there: It is well signposted from the A470, 7km north of Merthyr Tydfil.
The Centre is ½ mile/ 800m from the A470 up a gentle slope.

Public Transport: The T4 bus Merthyr-Brecon (TC) should stop near the A470 junction
(check with driver) and it is a 10-15 min walk along the road, including a slope up to the
centre.
Parking: The car park is mainly surfaced with compacted stone and can be bumpy.
There are plenty of parking spaces in the pay and display car park. Disabled parking
spaces are close to the main building.
Nearest EV Charging: Forest Holidays, Cwmtaf, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 2HU.
Distance: From a few yards (m) to a few miles (km).
Facilities: Café on site. The closest shops and petrol stations are in Merthyr Tydfil. Fishing
permits for Llwyn-on, Beacons and Cantref Reservoirs are available from the Visitor
Centre.
Toilets: The toilets (including a Changing Places toilet-ask at the café for the key) are
next to the main building but are locked at night.
