 Walk 4 Abergavenny to Crickhowell via Sugar Loaf
 The Gateway to the National Park

 WALK 13km/81⁄4 miles
 ASCENT 650m/2145ft
 TIME 5 - 6 hours
 TERRAIN Quiet roads, fields, grass/stone paths and tracks, open moorland. Can be muddy and slippery in places. Lots of stiles, many without dog access.
 BUS To Abergavenny, take the X43 or 43 bus (not Sundays) from Crickhowell to Tesco in the centre of Abergavenny.
A fine linear walk over Sugar Loaf (named for its appearance from east or west), with views over the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Somerset beyond the Bristol Channel. Continue back via delightful lanes, riverside and fields to Crickhowell.
From the war memorial A at the end of Frogmore Street in Abergavenny, use the pedestrian crossing behind Tesco to cross Park Road and then turn left and immediately right up Pen y Pound. At the traffic lights turn left to Avenue Road. At the top of Avenue Road continue straight on up Chapel Lane to the kissing gate. Turn right up Chapel Road and soon after side roads to the left and right, take the footpath to the left of and behind the big oak tree signed ‘Public Footpath to Sugar Loaf ’.
