 Walkers are welcome in Crickhowell
Safety information
Please be aware that all these walks use parts of the Black Mountains which are remote and can be unpleasant or dangerous in adverse weather. Temperatures along the tops can drop suddenly, particularly in wet and windy conditions.
We recommend that you take the following clothing and equipment with you on these walks:
• Walking boots with ankle support and a good grip • Waterproof jacket and over-trousers
• Spare pullover or fleece
• Hat and gloves
• Water and food for the duration of the walk plus some high energy food in reserve • A map (OL13 recommended) and a compass with knowledge of how to use them
Do not rely just on a smart phone for navigation!
The following optional extras may be useful – walking poles, thermos flask, sun hat, sunglasses and sun cream, personal first aid kit, torch.
We recommend that you let someone know where you are going before you set off. Emergencies on the hills Ring 999 or 112 and ask for Mountain Rescue.
