 Walk 6 Llangattock Hillside
Turn right along the road and go straight on at the first house along a track, passing White Walls, a cavers’ bunkhouse. The track becomes a broad grassy path. Look for a large stone in the middle of the path just before the path narrows and turn right down a steep straight path leading down to a flat area with a bench and the foundations of a brake house which once controlled the quarry tram wagons descending the steep incline D .
Take the faint path on the left through the bracken, which rises a little and then continues fairly level before dropping down to a stream. Do not cross the stream but turn left and follow a faint rough path with a fence/wall on your right until the wall turns sharp left. Head for a waymark post at the corner of the wall. Just after the wall corner is a large holly tree. From the holly tree continue straight on with the wall and fence on your right until you reach Waun Ddu, (an ecologically important raised bog). Keep to the left of the stream and walk around the edge to the far side. Keep straight on up a slope and over to a farm track withawallahead.TurnleftalongthetrackdowntotheBeaufortRoad E .
Cross the road and take the signed route down across a field, staying close to the fence on the right to a gate into a wood. Follow the rough track through the wood and swing right to join a large field. Turn left along the field edge down to a stream and track at the bottom of the field. Turn right along the track for 300 metres until the track swings to the right, then follow the waymarked route across several fields keeping close to the edge of the wood on the left. At Cilau Farm follow the diverted path around to the right of the farm buildings. At the farm driveway turn left and immediately right then cross two fields to a stile at a road F .
Turn left down the road, cross canal bridge 115 and turn immediately right down onto the towpath. Turn right, go under the bridge and follow the towpath to the next bridge, 116. Leave the towpath and go down the road to Llangattock Church, passing The Old Rectory Hotel. Go through the church lych-gate and follow the tarmac path through the churchyard and across fields back to Crickhowell Bridge A .
