Climax of a great season - Jonathan Davies OBE presents the end of season awards...

SUMMER BALL AND AWARDS
On Saturday 10th June we hosted the Summer Ball and Awards evening at the ground. The evening was well supported with 200 people in attendance. We are grateful to Mr Gareth Owens who acted as MC for the evening and ensured that the evening ran ‘smoothly’. Our guest speaker for the evening was Mr Jonathan Davies OBE who entertained everyone with stories of his life on and off the field.
During the evening Sean Davies spoke and was pleased to announce that the fundraising match in memory of Eifion had raised £25,000.00 and he thanked everyone for helping raise such a fantastic amount of money. He also announced that it was one of Eif’s wishes for many years that the Club should have an award for Clubman of the Year and the family presented a Cup to the Club to be used for that purpose.
Glenda Evans presented a present and flowers to Sharon to celebrate her 60th Birthday. A quick rendition of Happy Birthday was sung and that closed the evening of awards.
After coffee had been served and glasses topped up, Gareth introduced Jonathan Davies OBE. After a warm welcome, Jonathan entertained the audience for an hour and was happy to mingle with the audience after for photos and conversation. It was very interesting to learn of Jonathan’s career and how he had not achieved any International school or youth caps. His message to all and especially the young, was to just keep working and playing hard as an opportunity will arise. A standing ovation once again was given to Jonathan by the audience to show that all had enjoyed. Gareth Owens thanked the committee for the organisation of the night, Sharon and the bar staff for their support throughout the year, the coaches and players without whom we would not be a club, the members for their support and finally the sponsors. Gareth closed the night by handing over to the band, Northern Ruins, to play the night away!
