• Business development and advisory roles,
• Legal roles,
• Sales graduates,
• Accountants,
• Payroll and bookkeeping roles,
• Audit roles,
• Architects.
13,620 unique postings were made for jobs related to the sector between January 2018 and 2019. The median posting duration for these roles was 26 days which is consistent with the median posting duration for all other occupations and companies in the region.
Barriers to Training
The majority (78%) of respondents do not experience barriers to training. Those that do report similar barriers to other sectors. These include;
• Lack of funding for the training,
• Can’t spare staff time,
• A lack of good local training providers,
• Difficulty in finding training providers who can deliver training where or when we want it,
• Hard to find the time to organise training.
Apprenticeships
As evidential from other sectors the majority (76%) of respondents do not employ apprentices. Apprenticeship frameworks not meeting business needs was overwhelmingly reported as the main reason.
There is a clear need to better promote the added value apprenticeships could make in a sector like this. Furthermore, ensuring that employers feel they are able to feed in to the development of frameworks is essential and the RLSP will support with this.
Brexit
The majority of respondents indicated that Brexit will have no effect on their business. A loss of business and procurement and funding are main considerations for those who believed Brexit would have an effect on them.
Priority
A closer working relationship between the industry and providers needs to materialise to ensure that course content and delivery mechanisms meet the needs of employers.
