In Hereford itself you’ll find good quality stays in well suited residential areas and all within walking distance of the centre. The City’s only 5 Star Guest House is Somerville House in Bodenham Road and pretty B&B 21 Aylestone Hill is only a short walk from the train station or try bohemian East Friars with its artists den feel by Hereford’s Rowing Club.
For real boutique style Castle House Hotel is the go-to des-res right at the heart of the City with Cathedral views. A stone’s throw from the Castle Green and with gardens overlooking the original castle moat, it’s also known for its afternoon teas and fine dining.
The rest of Herefordshire’s accommodation is widespread and tucked in the most unlikely places; villages, hamlets, farmhouses and country manors, sometimes even a pub... how handy.
Many are award-winning, like Lowe Farm’s 4 star farmhouse bed and breakfast in Pembridge, with accolades for breakfast, service, even their green credentials. Dunfield House in Kington is perfect for groups and in a spectacular elevated location, while the Steppes in Lugwardine snuggles its guests amid the flora and fauna of their cottage garden. Longwood Cottage in
Sollars Hope trades on its incredible views and Sink Green farm just outside Rotherwas has just had lovely new bathrooms installed.
We love the idea of an upholstery course combined with
a stay at rural Huntlands Farm near Worcester and Holly Lodge in pretty Burley Gate is well placed to seek out the local cider makers.
