We think you’ll love a trip to Wynnes farm park and animal supplies just outside the town. With free entry and a cafe and gift shop, it’s a great place for the whole family.
As a ‘walkers are welcome’ destination, with stunning scenery all around, Leominster is a paradise for walkers and cyclists too. You can cosy up in one of the many bed & breakfasts and camping and caravan sites in and around the town and nearby villages.
Herefordshire is famously known for its Hereford Cattle but Leominster is also the historical home of the Ryeland Sheep and, whilst visiting, you simply must explore how the ‘Lemner Ore’ became recognised for its top quality wool, a must-have for the textile trade in the middle ages.
Tumbling with myths and legends, the folklore of Leominster has a magical aura, and the surrounding area does history by the bucket, with its own museum telling the story of the town’s heritage from Roman times. Add in magnificent buildings like Leominster Priory, which has many events and is known as a venue for plays and theatre and features the last surviving ducking stool, as well as castles to courts, and stunning Grange Court with its public green, widely regarded as King’s carpenter John Abel’s finest work, in the town itself.
Hampton Court Castle tucked away in Hope-under-Dinmore offers another great attraction with many seasonal events. Nearby Herefordshire Wildlife Trust carefully manage Queenswood Country Park Arboretum and Bodenham Lake Nature Reserve providing stunning walks and views across the county, a wonderful café and a picnic spot with the wow factor.
Step back in time and enjoy this most traditional part of Herefordshire.
