There is something incredibly special about Weobley (pronounced Webbly), the picture-book village that captured the attention of the BBC back in August 2016, so much that it dedicated a whole programme of The One Show shot on location there.
A highlight on Herefordshire’s Black & White Village route, this thriving community has almost created its own micro-existence, where, behind the doors of the enchanting timbered buildings, the business owners and residents support each other whether they have been here for generations or visited, fell in love and never left.
Describing it as ‘quintessentially English’ (move over The Cotswolds), the One Show showcased the history, traditions, characters, businesses and most of all spirit that makes Weobley shine.
And now you can have a slice of that too; ‘Live’ in the charm of Mellington House
Bed & Breakfast or one of its wonderfully private central self catering cottages and apartments right on the main street, get the best breakfast bacon or even a Weobley Whopper sausage from renowned butcher R E Williams over the road and handy essentials and supplies from The Old School Shop a few doors down.
Tudor Guest House and its lovely cottage garden sits quaintly in the street with the burgeoning blooms of its floral baskets a real showstopper, and rather conveniently Ye Olde Salutation Inn is a very brief walk away with anything but an old fashioned menu and has a firm local following.
