The practical courses delivered by the project have been complemented by over twenty online “courses” – all available bilingually and made up of a variety of resources including videos, animations and downloads.
Designed to be, above all else, eminently user friendly so as to encourage take up, the online resources have been an invaluable tool for people unable to attend courses as well as for those that require additional support and background.
The online courses, which have achieved over 1200 views, have opened the door to learning all about “growing your own” for those that could not physically attend and have assisted learning for those undertaking practical sessions. The twenty two topics have delivered easy to assimilate, practical help to home/small scale/community growers with free, unlimited access to online learning resources at a time and place that is convenient for them.
The Growing the Future participants and wider audience have also engaged with the project via its Facebook and Twitter presence, with 3000 people across the community keeping in touch with updates, course details and useful information via the digital medium.
Project Achievements
Growing the Future was a Pilot Project which has developed considerably from the originally agreed outputs with the Project funders back in 2012.
All the targets have been exceeded and the table below outlines the impressive number of participants that the project has engaged with; the increased number of courses that have been developed and the effectiveness of delivering the courses throughout Wales. These outputs are only part of the benefit that this project has brought to the people of Wales; the next page of this report outlines the Social Impact that this project has had and will continue to have for some time to come.
