Four exciting opportunities from Seafish Onshore Training!
Guide to Food Safety Management for Fishmongers
Responding to the NFF’s request for a HACCP Guide for Fishmongers, Seafish was able to determine that most fishmongers can become compliant without the need for a HACCP Plan. The Guide to Food Safety Management for Fishmongers will be published (online) by Seafish in March 2020 and will seek to show how standard operating procedures can be used to good effect to ensure food safety compliance in a typical independent fishmonger business.
Free compliance training
Seafish has online food hygiene and health & safety learning materials. By combining the online study materials, the testing portal and a downloadable logsheet to record your learning hours we have a simple system for training staff that doesn't require passwords, login screens, registration or even payment. If you require a nationally recognised and accredited qualification then you can use our online learning materials, however you would have to pay to complete an invigilated exam.
    Customer service module for fishmongers
Seafish is developing an open learning module for fishmongers, including mobile van operators, focussing on customer service. The self-study pack can be used by the learner at a place, pace and time that is convenient to them and their business. Topics included are people skills, first impressions and dealing with complaints. This pack will be available by the end of March 2020.
Apprenticeships for fishmongers
A well-trained, knowledgeable and motivated workforce is vital to business success. A variety of apprenticeships are available to fishmonger businesses, equipping people with the knowledge and skills to become excellent fishmongers. Apprentice- ships are not just for new employees, nor are they just for the young. Older employees who have been with the business for some time and even those in a more senior position can undertake an apprenticeship, which are now available across the UK.
