STOWING FOR SEA
When in doubt: STOW!!!! This vessel is terrible at sea and everything falls out of its place or comes loose! Please be EXTREMELY vigilant.
Runners to go on floor. Everything to be placed on the floor or behind the couch. Lamps to be protected on the floor by cushions: Please be careful with the round table – the top comes off – so don’t pick it up. Chairs need to be roped around the table – be sure to pro- tect the chairs with towels as the rope will leave dents if only drop sheets used. Place drop sheets over coffee table/armchairs and on floor and sofa as all deck cushions will be placed here usually. Leave glass sliding doors in “open mode” and protect the wooden floor by entrance with a drop towel as crew will do rounds and will constantly be walking through here.
Change over day head items for crew (as bridge watch keepers will use this).
Pantry
Stow inside cupboards, there are many breakable loose items (no stowing rods). Ensure alcohol cupboards is properly locked. Place large cushions in front of fridge and wine fridge as these always come out. Ensure wine fridge is locked. Warming drawer needs bungee-cord.
Sky corridor
Place drop towels down, especially under the vent leading from the top of the stairs, close to the carpet – as this blows out dark smoke on to the carpet. Blue tape the drawers as these fly out if rough.
Main salon
Runners to go down. All alcohol from cabinets is to be removed into crates and protected. Please ensure alcohol under sink is also protected. Please secure everything in the cupboard behind the bar. Bar chairs to be protected by cushions or drop towels and roped around the bar. The venetian doors often swing out of their hidden socket. Need
to put cushions and something heavy on each side (which won’t slide away) to prevent the venetian doors to roll out.
